Sahara crossing

In early 2006 I attended a Toyota Landcruiser Owners Club day out on Salisbury Plain. After careering about in the mud for a while we retired to a pub to hear Chris Scott give a talk on his experiences with Landcruisers in the Sahara over the years. At the end he mentioned that he was in the eary stages of planning an expedition to cross the Sahara from Mauritania to near the Libyan border in Southern Algeria.

I had driven down to Mauritania a few years earlier and in 2004 had driven around parts of Southern Algeria with a small group. It was all too brief a visit.

So in 2005 I arranged my own small tour.We were based in Tamanrasset where I had made connections and from there we went on several expeditions to look at the rock art and stunning scenery there.               ( photos of this trip can be seen elsewhere on this website )

I had already decided I must return there sometime so when I heard Chris mention his expedition my ears pricked up.
